Null Paradox | Victoria & Annabelle

It was a moody night.

As Annabelle walked away from what she increasingly thought of as Seth’s Warehouse, her muffled footsteps on the damp grass of the park–their park–barely belied her movement.

“How are you feeling?”
“Aren’t you going to ask me about Seth’s card game?” as she sat down next to Victoria.
“Soon. But first: how are you feeling?” Victoria inquired again.
“How do I look?”

“Infection…” Annabelle murmured the word a few more times. “Doesn’t really do this thing justice.”
“I can do this all night you know,” smirked Victoria.
“I know. That’s why we’re friends.” Annabelle smiled for the first time that night.
“Oh, we’re more than that. We’re…confidants…conspirators…” replied Victoria.
“…I like that.”

“So. How are you feeling?” Victoria patiently asked.

“Infection…” Annabelle murmured the word a few more times. “Doesn’t really do this thing justice.”

“I know. That’s why we’re friends.” Annabelle smiled for the first time that night.

“…I like that.”

“So. How are you feeling?” Victoria patiently asked.

Annabelle’s lips trembled.

“She’s there with him.”

“I know,” Victoria whispered.
