Becoming a Genius~Born or Learned?

Always be wary about the quiet ones.  (A brief conversation I had with Annabelle) ~The Bully

That was a warning I gave to Annabelle about Seth.  He’s always been quiet, introspective, and a recluse.  Why I would give her such a warning is for a different time.

Since I began working for Seth, I’ve learned he’s a hard man to please: driven, savvy, scrappy, intimidating, and often indecipherable.  And without question, he’s a born genius.

But for the few he trusts, he’s candid in his honesty, which is refreshing.

I’m one of those few.  The other two are Victoria and Annabelle.  Well, formerly Victoria. It’s a privilege to be in this circle of trust.

Since her disappearance, he’s unsure what to make of her.  So, he assigned me the task of discovering everything to discover about her.  Meanwhile, I continue working with Gertrude within the confines of our special relationship.

So when I accidentally overheard him singing this, part of what he said corresponded with what I know are his ongoing feelings for Victoria.

In the shadows where I hide
There’s a truth deep inside
Chained my silence, my soul ignites
Shackled dreams within my sight
Dimming stars my time to fight
Chained my silence my soul reignites

~From Seth’s song Shackled Dreams

But I’m having difficulty with “Dimming stars my time to fight.”  Both within the context of everything he sang about that evening and as a standalone sentence.  What would a genius mean by that statement?

Learning to Be a Genius

I don’t use “genius” lightly, as most people do. I’ve been around for quite a long time, and a true genius may occur once or twice every thousand years.

What You Can Do

The first step is not to bore me or continue self-deluding yourself that you actually were a “born genius.”  You’re not.  Because if your goal was to be born a genius like Seth, you’re already too late.  But you can get 80% of the way there with my self-improvement guide~The Excellence Mindset: Rising Above Average by Choice.

It’s going to take work on your part, but here’s what you need to do~

  1. Embrace Lifelong Learning~ Naturally, you’ll want to engross yourself in a perpetual state of education. Devour literature, partake in elitist seminars, and cultivate an insatiable curiosity for the world’s finer intricacies.  By doing so, you’ll accumulate impressive knowledge, ensuring you’re the most interesting person at any dreadfully dull dinner party.  More importantly, you’ll build a broad and deep knowledge base, equipping yourself with diverse perspectives and expertise.
  2. Cultivate Deep Focus~ Develop the singular ability to concentrate intensely, much like a hawk eyeing its prey. Engage in mindfulness, banish distractions, and employ sophisticated time management techniques.  Your productivity will soar, allowing you to tackle complex problems with the elegance and precision of a master chess player.
  3. Master a Niche Skill~ Identify a highly specific area where you can shine. Dedicate time to becoming incomparably proficient, much like a concert pianist perfects their craft. You’ll command respect and admiration in your chosen field, leaving the plebeians awestruck by your unparalleled expertise.
  4. Network Strategically~ Cultivate relationships with the crème de la crème of your industry. Attend the most exclusive events, join elite circles, and rub elbows with the who’s who of the professional world. This will help you to gain access to invaluable resources and alliances, making you the darling of the social and professional elite.  Once that’s worn its inevitable path in your “life rug,” do try to dive deeper and build an inner circle that provides you with candid feedback.  If it’s not apparent, it’s your job to do the same for the other members of your circle~don’t be one of those social leeches.
  5. Innovate Quietly~ Devise ingenious projects and ideas with a level of discretion befitting a secret agent. Focus on the brilliance of your work rather than clamoring for public adoration. Your groundbreaking contributions will inevitably speak for themselves, securing your reputation as an understated genius.
  6. Document and Reflect~ Maintain meticulous records of your illustrious projects and profound thoughts. Regularly reflect upon your progress, obstacles, and triumphs. You’ll possess a comprehensive chronicle of your journey, providing endless fodder for memoirs that will undoubtedly enthrall future generations.

I’m going to say it again~Most importantly, be patient with yourself.

Null Paradox is For You.

Or, more succinctly,  I’m for you.

I’m unapologetically raw with how I feel~the highest of highs, the lowest of lows.
