Null Paradox | Gertrude & Grace
When we first started our Null Paradox adventure, it was all about Gertrude & Grace~Blood Sisters from the day they met as children.
I think Grace is a Dreamer, a true artist. She imagines and believes in a “bigger, better future”, and is a leader amongst friends. ~Maddie Pfeiffer (Grace)
By the Love or Destiny music album, their relationship had ended with the death of Grace. Ironically, the last person to see Grace wasn’t Gertrude but Seth. He carried Grace to a rendezvous with Apple and Adel with the slimmest of hope that the two scientists could do something to reverse her death.
Bringing back Grace to her former persona, both physically and psychologically, proved to be an impossible task for Apple and Adel. The scientists’ fear when they thought about having to give Seth the news was unbearable. They were well aware that he was much more than the affable person that he projected in public.
Fear can be a good motivator. With nothing left to lose, Apple and Adel reanimated Grace into something different—the physical manifestation of Gertrude’s nightmare during her travels through the Glass Desert.
But it turns out that as tricky as reanimation was, the new Grace still carried the psychologically destructive traits that caused her death in the first place.
Overcoming addiction, at best, is complex, and Grace was going to need some help. So Apple and Adel turned to an unlikely and terrifying source for help. The Bully.

Lyrics
I remember when we were young and wild
We’d stay up all night runnin like a child
But somewhere in the way we lost our star spark
Now we’re just two strangers drifting apart
I gave you everything my heart and my soul
But you left me guessing, never played the role
You said you loved me, but your actions spoke why
Can’t you just tell me the truth and let go
Why, why, did you have to break me
Why, why, did you have to leave
I gave you my all, can’t you see
Why, why, did you do this to me
I remember when we were young and wild
We’d stay up all night runnin like a child
Why, did you have to break me
Why, why, did you have to leave
I gave you my all, can’t you see
Why, why, did you do this to me

Null Paradox | Physics
Physicists describe the multiverse as an object that contains all possible universes. At its core, the Null Paradox multiverse is the same, but how we navigate the infinite permutations of each universe within the multiverse is different.
Grace | Zero
To keep things understandable, the primary Grace is Grace Zero.
In Null Paradox, Grace’s life is a series of tiny hops from one universe to another stitched together to create the life she experiences. This is facilitated by a machine briefly described in the first book, which plays a more significant role in the second book.
But what do all the other Graces do in the multiverse? Do they wait around until it’s their turn to play a fleeting part in Grace Zero’s life? Or do they have a life that is briefly absconded by Grace Zero?
And how far do they, as people, stray from Grace Zero?
The answer to the last question, the essence of Grace, remains the same through all possible permutations. However, there are significant variabilities in their relationships and actions.
Unsurprisingly, what Grace looks like changes too.
Here’s the tricky part | Zero, One, and Two
The Gertrude, Grace, Victoria, and Seth that you read about are technically the primary ones. “Zero” is appended to their names to reduce confusion, as in Grace Zero. The adjacent universe has a Grace One. And so on, for all of them.
But, due to Apple and Adel’s reanimation process, the new Grace is different. Just like Annabelle is different.
